Why is Aladdin racist? Just wondering, thank you!

middleeasternsarecool:

Becuase they use every racist anti-ME stereotype in the book minus husband with billion wives.X.  X. X. (theres 3 parts) Pretty useful. Like they dont even give jasmine a country like rather than google “origins of alladdin” (a PERSIAN) story they just said fuck it and made up a cariciture of what they THINK the Middle East looks/acts like. If you notice aside from Jasmine/Aladdin/the background PROSTITUTES from one jump ahead everyone is ugly and mean. Like by default the people were mean/ugly while for the white princesses the village people were average and nice by default. The vendor tries to get Aladdins hand cut off for stealing an apple when the only place in the Middle East that does that is Saudi and thats ONLY after several warnings/conviction of stealing BIG TICKET THINGS AS IN NOT A FUCKING APPLE. Also the darker the character the meaner they are. Jasmine is an orientalist wet dream like is any other princess besides the goddamn mermaid that scantily clad? Does anyone beside her and esmeralda have to use their sexualities in any part of the story? Shes nude in a bath tub for part of the story and in the Middle East people (including royalty) can most certainly choose who they marry. They P much demonized the Middle East and made us look like woman-hating ass-backwards barbarians. NGL I’m p Sure thats why a lot of white feminists get the idea of poor oppressed Middle Eastern girls that so desperately need saving from her evil culture. So in conclusion fuck that. They’re Disney. They could have researched. They could have not been racist. But they CONSCIOUSLY CHOSE not to.

and don’t even get me started on the atrocity that is Pocahontas

OR the character tiger lily seen in Peter Pan

ENTHEOGEN
[noun]
1. a psychoactive substance used in a religious, shamanic, or spiritual context. Historically, entheogens were mostly derived from plant sources and have been used in a variety of traditional religious contexts.
2. any substance, such as a plant or drug, taken to bring on a spiritual experience.
Etymology: “generating the divine within” - neologism coined in 1979 by a group of ethnobotanists and scholars of mythology. The term is derived from two words of ancient Greek, ἔνθεος (entheos) and γενέσθαι (genesthai). The adjective entheos translates to English as “full of the god, inspired, possessed”. The Greeks used it as a term of praise for poets and other artists. Genesthai means “to come into being”.
